I recently started a new dieting method, based off the book Always Eat After 7 PM and have been sharing weekly updates here on the blog.

Based on surprising science, Always Eat After 7 PM debunks popular diet myths and offers an easy-to-follow diet that accelerates fat-burning and allows you to indulge in your most intense food cravings: Eating the majority of your calories at night.

If you missed my previous posts: Week 1, Week 2, Week 3.

It’s A Lifestyle Change

We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal.

Always Eat After 7 PM: The Revolutionary Rule-Breaking Diet That Lets You Enjoy Huge Dinners, Desserts, and Indulgent Snacks—While Burning Fat Overnight by Joel Marion is now available to purchase. Learn more about the book and how to purchase here.

“Research shows that the average person’s metabolic rate is no different during sleep than during the day. In short, your metabolism doesn’t slow down at night. Nor does your body store fat at the end of the day. Whether it’s 8 am or 8 pm, you use food for energy the same way.”

Trying It Out

I followed Joel Marion’s lifestyle changes by meal planning, cooking better and more solid meals, attempting intermittent fasting with stronger meals at night, and regular exercise.

It wasn’t easy.

Can you really blame me though? So many things were riding against me. For starters, Covid-19 made grocery shopping more complicated and fasting even harder than it already was. Then there’s the day-to-day struggle to find balance in the chaotic stay at home mom lifestyle.

The Outcome

Even though I struggled to skip breakfasts and eat larger meals at night, I did notice a change in energy. I slept better and woke up feeling stronger and ready to start my day.

One of the things I really loved though, more than anything, was having a meal guideline set up for me that’s backed up by nutritional science.

I’m so indecisive that I have a serious problem when it comes to food. I get bored easily but don’t like thinking too much about what to eat so having a guideline of varying balanced meals for 14 days along with recipes was amazing for me!

Trying this new lifestyle while social distancing has motivated me to find ways to stay fit from home and establish a healthy routine for myself and it’s a fantastic feeling!

What Now?

Now that the month-long journey is done I plan to continue to plan, cook, and eat smarter. Whether you precisely follow Joel Marion’s every suggestion or use it as a guideline, anyone can benefit from these lifestyle changes and recipes.
